I send on herewith a copy of the conditions of the vacancy for a Superintendent of the Botanical and Forestry Department in Hong Kong, and also a copy.

I spoke to you about this yesterday, very glad if you will let us have your views as to filling this appointment, and if you will suggest any other sources of supply, which it might be advisable to try. As I mentioned to you I think it is possible that I may get an application from an officer who has been three or four years in the Indian Forestry Department, and who wishes to get into the Colonial Service, I am writing to find out whether he wishes

to stand for this post.
